Indeed the AGH is unique in Canada as one of the only public art gallery/museums located outside Canada’s major urban cities that maintains a collection of important national and international repute. From the 29 paintings of the William Blair Bruce Collection which opened the AGH in 1914, the permanent collection has grown to more than 10,000 works.
