Catching a Star

Size: 8.5 x 11"

Ting Yang is a visual artist using cyanotype, photography, and mixed media processes on paper, textiles, and stone. Her work seamlessly blends the art of flower arrangement with the ethereal beauty of photography, creating compositions that honor both nature and heritage.

Inspired by The Little Prince, this piece captures a moment of quiet wonder — the Little Prince sitting on a crescent moon, gently fishing a star from the night sky. The moon is covered with golden yellow flowers, glowing with warmth and light, while the star itself is formed from delicate flower petals.

Through the tender language of pressed flowers, Catching a Star reflects the innocence of dreams and the beauty of reaching for something beyond. A poetic “star fishing” scene that reminds us to stay curious, hold onto wonder, and keep believing in the light that guides us.

This artwork features pressed flowers. Each piece is crafted by hand using real flowers, carefully collected and pressed throughout the seasons. The process of drying the flowers requires time and patience. Once dried, the flowers are meticulously arranged, adhered, cleaned, and sealed within frames.
