William Blair Bruce is one of many Hamiltonians who, through their accomplishments and the attention and success they receive abroad, contribute to reveal the multi-faceted character of this city and its pool of artistic talent.

As a painter, he left a legacy that includes some of the gems of painterly practice in late ninteenth- and early twentieth-century Canada. As an artist who took on the challenges of an international career, he deserves our admiration.
