Peter Fischer
Peter Fischer is a contemporary painter based in Dundas, Ontario. Fischer’s paintings focus primarily on the fine nuances of the natural world. Having started painting in oils at the age of 12, he has been involved in a lifelong exploration of the creative process. With a background in graphic design, his carefully honed eye for detail captures the randomly occurring repetition of shapes and pattern, resulting in paintings which often invoke a sense of calm in the viewer. Fischer gathers inspiration from areas in and around the escarpment passing through Dundas, along with his travels to Quebec and the Maritimes. In a statement regarding his work, Fischer writes:
“I endeavour to create works which are essentially representational and sometimes through composition and a controlled chromatic scale invoke a slightly abstract or modern impression. My interest in a subject is often captured by details, patterns and naturally repeated shapes. I also enjoy creating works which give the viewer a sense of wishing to be in the scene by giving them a place to go to, and or a path to follow.”
Fischer has been painting full-time since 2013 and exhibits in galleries in Charlottetown, Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, Stratford and the public art galleries of Hamilton and Burlington. His work is held in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia.
