Nathan Eugene Carson

Nathan Eugene Carson is a Hamilton based, multi-media artist. His paintings and mixed media works on paper explore figures, animals, and other hybrid creatures of his personal experiences and imagination. Richly pigmented and textured surfaces layer together narratives that integrate themes of Black identity, autobiographical memories, and elements of charged symbolism.

Nathan Eugene Carson received a Bachelor of Fine Art from OCAD University. His drawings and paintings have been presented across Canada at the Drake Hotel, Toronto; Oswold Gallery, Hamilton; Carnegie Gallery, Dundas; and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. His recent 2021 exhibition at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto, Cut from the same cloth, was his first institutional solo-exhibition. Carson is the current RBC Artist in Residence at the Art Gallery of Hamilton where his new series of work, Black Carnival Audience, is on public display.
