Lester Coloma
Lester Coloma is a first-generation, Canadian-born artist raised in Hamilton by his Filipino immigrant parents. Before graduating from OCAD University with a degree in Illustration, he studied drawing and painting in Florence, Italy. Coloma’s extensive mural work has been recognized for its artistic excellence and has earned him multiple local and international awards.
Regarding his work, Coloma states:
“The creative drive behind my work is to communicate the personal response and experience surrounding close family relationships and emotional wellbeing. The images of statue fragments and artifacts with cracks, weathered textures, and a worn patina, combined with delicate floral elements, are designed to speak of the relationship between emotional heaviness and everlasting hope.”
His timeless themes and visual language appeal to people of all ages, creating pride in communities and positively transforming the cityscape. Lester lives and works in his hometown of Hamilton, balancing his sweet tooth with his triathlon training.
