Lester Coloma
Lester Coloma is a first-generation, Canadian-born artist raised in Hamilton by his Filipino immigrant parents. Prior to graduating from OCAD University in Illustration, he studied drawing and painting in Florence, Italy. Coloma’s extensive mural work has been recognized for its artistic excellence and has garnered him multiple local and international awards.
Coloma’s personal, fine art practice is driven by his desire to communicate an emotional connection through the honest exploration of loss. Broken and fragmented elements not only symbolize the effects of personal life challenges, but also the ability of the human spirit to endure. Compared to his larger mural works, these smaller paintings allow Lester to fully explore a variety of mark making on a more intimate scale.
