Lester Coloma

Lester Coloma is a first-generation Canadian, born and raised in Hamilton by his Filipino immigrant parents. Prior to graduating from OCAD in Illustration, he studied drawing and painting in Florence Italy. His mural works have been recognized for their excellence and he has been awarded multiple international and local awards.

Coloma’s current, personal practice is driven by a desire to communicate an emotional connection through the honest exploration of his own narratives. The broken and fragmented elements often utilized not only symbolize the effects of personal life challenges, but also the ability of the human spirit to endure. Compared to his larger mural works, these smaller paintings allow Lester to fully explore a variety of mark making through a more intimate scale
