Kara McIntosh
Kara McIntosh is a multi-disciplinary artist who explores the relationship between self and the natural environment.
Through a non-representational approach, the emotional & spiritual experiences of the Canadian wilderness that McIntosh seeks to capture are translated into abstracted compositions rendered in oil paint, watercolour and hooked wool and silk fibers. Sensations of sky, rock, forest, and undergrowth are conveyed as vibrant, gestural shapes of bold colour and rich texture. McIntosh’s experimental and expressionistic use of colour, line and material share the felt story of the landscape that connects us.
Kara McIntosh’s works have been shown publicly through many solo exhibitions, including an artist residency at the Lobby by Heaps Estrin (2022) and group exhibitions across Ontario. She currently lives near Nottawa, ON and works full-time from her studio in Collingwood. Kara McIntosh’s work can be found in private collections in Canada, the US, Europe and Australia.
