Judith Jasperson

Judith Jasperson

Judith Jasperson is a visual artist with a background in graphic and textile design. Jasperson creates rhythms patterns within a painting that are impressionistic and figurative. Her finished canvases are done in oil & acrylic. Her initial studies are done with watercolour. With a pair of scissors or a graphic's program, Jasperson will collage and reinterpret her sketches before beginning a painting. She may embellish or simplify to suit her aesthetic and narrative.

Recent works are from the artist’s past holidays with family & friends. Using old photos as a starting point, she plays with the memories and images. "Painting for me is an exercise in hope and an opportunity to play make believe.” Her paintings are joyful and full of colour.

Jasperson studied at Ontario College of Art Design and obtained a Bachelor of English from Bishop's University. Her works have been in solo & group exhibitions in Canada and the UK. Jasperson lives and works in Toronto.
