Douglas Edwards

Douglas Edwards is a contemporary painter based in Hamilton, Ontario. Edwards specializes in landscape painting and continues to explore new territory in subject and style while always finding means to expand his field of expression. In speaking of his own work, Edwards writes:

“I have used color and light to express everything in my life. It is my way to deal with the happiness, sadness, grief and healing of life and to try to reach serenity and fulfillment. Each painting brings me something new, as a chapter in a book or a pattern of thought and nature. I endeavor to share my expression of serenity on canvas.”

Douglas Edwards graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1979, also studying in Florence, Italy, at off-campus studies and the Academy of Fine Art. His paintings are represented in a number of public and private collections including the TSX, BCE, Manulife and Ontario Casino Corp. among others. Over the years, Edwards has taught art courses at Sheridan College, ON; the Leighton Center, AB; and the Ontario College of Art and Design. He has exhibited his work extensively in Canada as well as internationally in the United States, Sweden, England and Japan.
