Alexander Hernandez
Self-taught artist, Alexander Hernandez, utilizes a mixed media approach to create dreamlike, collaged images inspired by the Surrealist artists of the 20th century and the style of vintage magazine advertisements from the ‘50s and ‘60s. With regards to the thematic motivation for his work, Hernandez comments:
"Past, Present and Future are common themes. I believe that these are important for any work of art and are the key ingredients to teach us that you don't have to be scared of the past to move bravely into the future, redefining what it is to be human in the new millennium. My work, I hope, represents the way we live in the past and present and possible future through the use of surreal imagery that aims to create new worlds.”
Hernandez’s work has been included in numerous public exhibitions and are held in many private collections in Canada. He is currently based in Cambridge, ON.
