In Memory of Amy Ferrari

Amy Ferrari

(14 November, 1964 – 12 December, 2025)

Dear friends of the gallery, It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of artist Amy Ferrari, who left us peacefully on December 12, 2025,  with her husband of 38 years by her side. Amy was a radiant force in contemporary art, and her loss is felt profoundly across the Hamilton and Kitchener–Waterloo art communities and far beyond.

Amy devoted her life to revealing the beauty in the overlooked. Guided by her belief that “joyous, vibrant potential thrives in everybody, everything, and every situation,” she transformed even the most ordinary or disregarded subjects into vibrant celebrations of colour, movement, and possibility. Her paintings—alive with fluid lines, animated shapes, and luminous palettes—invited viewers to see the world with renewed optimism.

A beloved mentor, collaborator, and friend, Amy contributed generously to the cultural life of our community. She supported emerging artists, participated in countless exhibitions, and shared her infectious belief in art as a force for positivity and connection. Her warmth, encouragement, and unwavering creative spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. While we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate Amy’s extraordinary life, her generosity, and the transformative beauty she brought into the world.

Her legacy lives on in her artwork, in the communities she nurtured, and in the countless people she inspired. In honour of her life and creative spirit, her artwork will continue to be available through our gallery for those who wish to remember her through the pieces she so lovingly created. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her presence.

With gratitude for her life and art,

Jasmine, Callie, Devon and the community at the Art Gallery of Hamilton
