Taruna Singh

Taruna Singh’s mixed media creations draw inspiration from her South Asian heritage and diverse global experiences.

Blending paint, recycled materials, handmade paper, photography, typography, and natural foliage, Taruna creates richly textured pieces that examine identity, belonging, history and the beauty of impermanence. Holding a background in Art and Advertising Design from New York City College of Technology, she devoted years to a career in graphic design before the pandemic reignited her dedication to fine art. Her paintings serve as contemplative meditations, inviting viewers to reflect on belonging in the evolving landscapes of life.

On her “Elemental Collection” Singh states:

“Inspired by the fundamentals of Ayurveda, ‘Elemental' embodies the timeless forces shaping our world - earth, water, fire, air, and space. These elements, central to balance and well-being, form the foundation of existence. Through abstractscapes, my work expresses the intrinsic harmony of nature and its connection to the rhythms of life.”

Singh’s work is featured in both public and private collections in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. In 2024, her largest painting 'Chakras' was acquired by St. Michael’s Hospital’s Patient and Family Learning Centre for their ‘Joy’ collection by BIPOC artists. She also facilitates Gelli printing workshops at East End Arts and Lakeshore Arts.
