Peter Adams

Peter Adams is a contemporary painter born in Glasgow, Scotland. Adams grew up in Toronto, and is now a resident of Collingwood, Ontario. Adams has a film degree from Queen’s University, but has turned his focus to painting.

Adams states: “I have spent many years exploring the landscape that surrounds me – and the ever-changing human relationship with landscape. In my travels, I am drawn to subjects that symbolize the regenerative cycles of the natural world.”

Traditionally an oil painter, Adams has explored the expressive possibilities of mixed media in recent years – combining oil, acrylic, paint markers, oil sticks and spray paint. Adams has received several Ontario Arts Council grants and was selected to participate in the Labverde Arts Immersion Program in the Brazilian Amazon. He was a finalist in the Salt Spring National Arts Prize in 2015 and the Kingston Prize National Portrait Award in 2017.
