Candy Apple Red
Tania is a Hamilton textile artist and illustrator.
She started her creative life as a quilter and has used all those fantastic skills to continue to evolve her art while dropping all the unnecessary and restrictive rules.
For this show, Tania chose to make the first foods that came to mind when thinking of a funhouse (which is usually at a fair): a candy apple and fairy floss (the original name of candy floss). She also decided to stitch the names and dates of each “invention” in the most popular font of that year. Tania loves fact finding.
Tania is absolutely fine with viewers touching her artwork. Textiles are made to be touched. Those interactions add to the piece and continue its story.
Finally she would like to remind you of two things: 1. everyone is creative if only given the chance and 2. the world needs all the art we can create.
