Mikey Richardson
Mikey Richardson is an artist based in Carlisle Ontario, with a background from the OCADU Illustration Program, where he has since returned to teach several courses.
In his practice, Richardson explores themes of identity and complexities of modern life in oil, acrylic and mixed media, often utilizing recurring colours, motifs and symbols to establish a visual language. He aims to grant the viewer entry points into his thinking in order to find a bridge to something they find personally meaningful, creating pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing, but challenging - often in terms of unusual colour pairings, images, textures and patterns. This, paired with his unique, stream-of-consciousness approach, he layers, changes, destroys, and reworks until he achieves a cohesive form amongst divergent elements. Richardson refers to these as his “fragmented mental landscapes.”
His works have found homes in private collections reaching near and far.
