Lisa Ng
Lisa Ng was born in Hamilton, Ontario. As a child she immediately held an interest in being a poet of sorts. She attended the Dundas Valley School of Art and graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) 2007, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Integrated Media (narrative work: computers, performance and zines).
Lisa considers herself a self-taught artist. She gets inspired by people. On her art, she states:
“Art is an exploration of my everyday experience. I enjoy developing connections with others, connections of a particular kind. I make fun spaces in which to explore the strange, the unusual and the fantastical. My art has also been described as a splash of wit, a sprinkle of social commentary, a dash of humour and a bucket of fun. Art is my outlet, I do it to safeguard the realm of freedom of thought and expression, to excel and fascinate, by painting.”
Lisa Ng has won numerous awards including those from the Scarborough Arts Council and the Artist’s Network of Riverdale and has received positive reviews from both the Globe and Mail and NOW Magazine. Most currently, Lisa Ng has illustrated her first children's book with the Canadian Constitution Foundation with author, lawyer and host of the YouTube program, Canadian Justice, Christine Van Geyn, "Maple's Garden," set to be in bookstores in the Autumn of 2025. Lisa Ng is currently writing and illustrating her first children's book. Her work is widely collected around the world.
