Kerry Walford

Kerry Walford

Kerry Walford has been a practicing artist since 2006 after completion of her formal training at York University, ON. Following her education, she moved to Hamilton where she immersed herself in a city full of waterfalls, escarpment terrain and historical architecture. A recent move to Cayuga, ON has offered her renewed inspiration from the pastoral fields, grand river, and abundance of colourful sunrises and sunsets encountered in the natural environment there.

Walford’s painting practice is informed by her love of beauty found in the landscape. Demonstrating her enthusiasm for the subject, Walford’s works exhibit energetic application of thick texture, bold brushwork, and a vivid range of colours. In a statement about her work, Walford writes:

“I highlight what I see; beauty and simplicity which often take the form of rural scenes with hints of man-made elements. In a world which seems to be ever increasing in speed and forward momentum we often lose touch with the here and now and the beauty which surrounds us every day.”

Walford holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (honours) from York University and a diploma of Interior Design (honours) from Sheridan College in Ontario. Her paintings have been exhibited in various juried shows including The Artist Project, One of a Kind Show and the AGH Annual Art Sale.  She is currently represented by the AGB shop (Burlington), Shop @ AGH (Hamilton) and PWD Gallery (Waterloo). Walford now resides in Cayuga, ON, in an 1840’s English-style Farmhouse with her family. They recently opened Wildwood Art Gallery & Studio in their century home.
