Esther Slevinsky
Esther Slevinsky is an acrylic painter based in Waterloo, Ontario. In 2006 she graduated from ACAD with a BDes in Graphic Design and Illustration. She worked as a mural artist for two decades before transitioning to painting on canvas in 2018.
On her processes, Esther states:
“Food has been a continuous topic in my work. As a mother, food consumes the largest part of my day between packing lunches, planning, buying, prepping, cooking, baking, plating, serving, storing, and consuming food. I continue to explore our relationship with food and it’s many purposes: to celebrate, comfort, nourish and sustain, express love, reflect culture or tradition, as a luxury, or as waste. I solely paint from life so I can interact with my muse and enjoy the restrictive time limit this method imposes."
Slevinsky’s work has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions throughout Ontario, including a solo show entitled Homebody at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts in March 2020. Esther’s installation piece Chips and Cancer was part of the CAFKA.23 Biennial in Waterloo Region.
