Dylan Swan is a contemporary artist based in Hamilton, ON. Connection, community and belonging are the overarching themes of his painting practice.
Swan is drawn to painting urban landscapes. Initially derived from a personal connection, he finds that as his work progresses he becomes engaged on a more exoteric level leading to a deeper feeling of belonging - exploration of the connection between shared public structures and the natural environment as well as the eddies and currents of motion that bind us as a community. Swan states:
“The Hamilton area and its community are my subject and the inspiration that drives me. My work is a reflection of the life, energy and connections that bind us all, with a vibrant, expressive style structured over an impressionistic illustrative framework.”
Dylan Swan received his diploma in Experimental Drawing and Painting from OCAD University. Swan’s work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions and can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States, Italy, Germany and Australia.
